The Akdaş SEM-223 is a light and ergonomic AR-platform semi-automatic firearm in .223 Rem. Unlike a conventional AR-15 it uses a short-stroke gas piston with a rotating bolt, which keeps the action cleaner and the gun steadier.
The barrel is 4140 steel with a hard Melonite finish, the receivers are 7075-T6 aluminium alloy. Picatinny rails run along the top and the upper receiver, the handguard sides use M-LOK. The fire selector is ambidextrous and the firearm is secured by a trigger block and a firing pin safety. The 1/2-28 TPI muzzle accepts a flash hider or a suppressor.
This configuration comes without a stock. Thanks to the overhead spring system the firearm is ready to have a folding or telescopic stock fitted later.
